Finn’s Story

Finn, born Hafine Latapu, recorded his first album in 2011 under Wells Records, a startup label formed by a couple of his bandmates. This debut project featured 14 songs, including a few bonus tracks. Lucky to have band members who were also family, Fine received unwavering support for both his talent and vision. Throughout his musical journey, Fine faced moments of self-doubt and felt himself fading out at times. One such moment in 2015 inspired him to write and produce the track “Overwhelmed” in his living room. This period marked a crucial turning point as he discovered how to convert hard times into something magical. Armed with just an iPad and the free GarageBand software, Fine demonstrated that creativity and passion can trump the need for an entourage or a renowned recording studio. His most profound work often emerges from the solitude of his home studio, where a simple reference beat and concept form the cornerstone of his creative process, allowing everything else to unfold naturally. To combat writer’s block or creative saturation, Fine employs unique methods. He might take breaks to clear his mind or go for a drive, listening to the beat while on the road. This engagement helps trigger inspiration, often allowing him to complete the song. Ultimately, knowing that people can relate to and enjoy his music brings Fine immense joy. Lyrics are his primary mode of communication, providing him with both comfort and an effective way to connect with his audience.
